Welcome TpT’s Content Moderation Advisory Board as part of our commitment to quality and equity.

As a teacher-powered platform serving more than 7 million teachers, TpT makes it possible for every educator to share and access ideas, resources, and inspiration. This means we have a unique ability –and a responsibility– to help teachers provide a high-quality, equitable, and engaging education to all students.

Today we’re announcing TpT’s Content Moderation Advisory Board, an ongoing partnership with external experts whose experiences span across educational equity, inclusive curriculum, history, and content moderation. The Advisory Board advises TpT on our Inappropriate Content Policy, its application, enforcement, and community education strategies. The Advisory Board also informs general content moderation policies and practices.

TpT enforces policies intended to protect our users so that we can provide an inclusive platform for all students and teachers. As education and pedagogy continue to evolve, we’ll also seek guidance from the Advisory Board on how to think about emerging issues, so that TpT can remain a trusted source of content that inspires and supports all teachers and students. The Advisory Board will also provide input on Teacher-Author educational materials so that we can offer resources to TpT’s Seller community.

It’s our pleasure to introduce our Content Moderation Advisory Board members:

Adelin Cai

Adelin Cai has spent the last decade working with and leading teams responsible for product policies and their enforcement. As Pinterest’s former Head of Policy, she led the team that developed the company’s principles and core values around content moderation, covering a range of issues from hateful speech to medical (mis)information. Adelin is also a co-founder and board member of the Trust & Safety Professional Association (TSPA) and the affiliated Trust & Safety Foundation (TSF).

David Davidson

David Davidson currently manages special projects for Courageous Conversation, the award-winning protocol for effectively engaging, sustaining, and deepening interracial dialogue. Davidson’s expertise helps individuals and organizations address persistent racial disparities intentionally, explicitly, and comprehensively. Davidson has been an educator for over 30 years, first serving as a program specialist for Georgia’s Department of Education, then as an early reading program director before focusing his career and expertise on racial equity and transformation.

Dr. Sonal Patel

Dr. Patel has over two decades of service in PK-12 public education, and currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services for the San Leandro Unified School District, which has been nationally recognized for demonstrable equity and inclusion success. Prior, her expertise has been honed through several school-based positions, starting as a Spanish bilingual paraeducator, elementary classroom teacher, literacy specialist, instructional coach, and high school associate principal. Dr. Patel also serves as a continuing lecturer at UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Education in both the Berkeley Educators for Equity and Excellence (BE3) program and the Principal Leadership Institute (PLI).

Dr. Carlos Cortés

Dr. Cortés is an Edward A. Dickson Emeritus Professor of History at the University of California, Riverside. With decades of expertise in Imagery and Representation, he has authored several influential books on education and media studies and has worked as an advisor for the children’s series “Dora the Explorer” and, “Go, Diego, Go!”

Dr. Anton Treuer

Dr. Treuer is a Professor of Ojibwe at Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minnesota. As an expert in Indigenous History and Culture, he has presented all over the world on cultural competence and equity, strategies for addressing the “Achievement” Gap, and tribal sovereignty, history, language, and culture. He has received more than 40 awards and fellowships, including ones from the American Philosophical Society, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Science Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation, the Bush Foundation, and the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation.

Our platform has a long history of inspiring and uplifting educators as they share wisdom and resources. We look forward to continuing to partner with our community and with external experts as we learn together and push forward in our shared commitment to quality educational content.
